Each Piece of St Justin jewelry is crafted by hand and eye in Cornwall, the South West Extremity of Britain. The art of the Celts lives on in St Justin’s unique and beautiful designs.
The horses in this brooch are based on a Pictish horse engraving found on a stone in Inverurie, Scotland.
The Celts regarded the horse as a symbol of sovereignty. When depicted as a mare, the horse also symbolizes the power of the mother goddess. Known as Epona (Gaul), Rhiannon (Wales), or Macha (Ireland) she is often depicted with a basket and key symbolizing nourishment and guardianship.
